SMOU is a Seafaring Officers’ union with a global vision. We are actively working with our global partners to protect the employment rights of our members and to enhance their quality of life through the union’s many welfare initiatives.

Globally, we work in partnership with international unions and affiliates including the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), Nautilus Federation and International Federation of Shipmasters' Associations (IFSMA).

Our General Secretary, Ms Mary Liew, is an Executive Board Member and vice president of the ITF. She also sits in the International Labour Organization (ILO) as a Deputy Member in the Governing Body representing workers since 2014.”
